Current Information:Born-Deptford On 26th November, 1915, 7th King’s Royal Rifle Corps of 41 Brigade, 14th Division, went into front line trenches in the northern part of the Ypres salient at a place known as the Forward Cottage Salient, close to Wieltje. The battalion diary records that on 29th November their trenches were heavily shelled by the enemy artillery and that 4 men were killed, including Rifleman Gay, and that another 13 wounded. |
